Pointillism,y Summer Challenge

New York by Thomas Leslie Conroy

Hey!

So I know that it has been awhile since I've uploaded my blog, but that's because I've been so busy hanging out with my friends, going to the mall, sleepovers, and I've been really busy with my skating schedule. For the past few days I've been reading the Lorien Legacies which btw is a really awesome series. I've finished reading the first two books, now waiting for the third book to come out. For those who have never heard of the Lorien Legacies, you should definitely read it, once you open the book, you'll be hooked.

First two books of the Lorien Legacies
I'm not going to talk much about it since, that's not my point. I remember back in grade 7, my teacher taught us a whole unit on the art of pointillism. For some reason, I've been really obsessed with pointillism the past few days, and I decided that I will paint this picture of New York City, using pointillism.

I know that it's going to be difficult, but I believe that I will be able to accomplish it in time before school starts. I'll tell you right now that I'm not the best artist, but I'm going to my best.

Wish me luck!

Have a fun summer!

Hana Kimi, the Korean Version!

Hi!

All you EXO fans out there probably have already heard the news about EXO being part of SM Entertainment's new dram "To the Beautiful You" aka Hana Kimi aka Hanazakari no Kimitachi e. About four or five months ago, I've already heard that Minho from Shinee, and Sulli from f(x) will be starring in the upcoming romantic/comedy/high school drama called Hana Kimi. For those who doesn't know what Hana   Kimi is, here is a brief summary.

Based on a popular comic, this hilarious comedy follows the chaos, troubles and friendship at a boys’ boarding school after a girl-disguising-a-boy joins. Ashiya Mizuki has just come back to Japan from California where she was raised. She fell in love with Sano Izumi, a hopeful high jump hero, who has quit after an accident. As she wants him to go back to the sport once again, she enters the same high school as a boy! With a short hair, flattened chest and lowered voice, she starts sharing the same room with Sano. --Fuji Creative

The Japanese dram of Hana Kimi came out in 2007, and it's been about three to four years since I've last watched it, and since back then, no one added any English subtitles, I really had no idea what was happening other than the fact that Ashiya wanted Sano to jump. Plus, I was in grade 5 back then, and I wasn't the brightest student. Anyways, here is the Japanese cast of Hana Kimi. However, if you go on Youtube, you can watch Hana Kimi with full English subtitles, which is what I'm doing right now. I'm currently on episode 6.

Here is a picture of the Japanese Hana Kimi main cast.

3 Main Characters
Ashiya Mizuki is played by Horikita Maki
Sano Izumi is played by Oguri Shun
Nakatsu Shuichi is played by Ikuta Toma

It is definitely worth watching it because it is absolutely hilarious and embarrassing. I personally have to give props to Ikuta Toma because he definitely got the hardest character to play. He played a character that kissed a guy, went threw "homo" issues, and did a lot of embarrassing stuff such as dancing in a bra and wearing an underwear on his head. Here's the clip.

HAHAHAHAAHAHA! I laughed so loud when I saw this part. This is definitely a memorable moment. As you all know that Ashiya is actually a girl, and Nakatsu started to develop a crush on "him" which lead Nakatsu believing in himself that he is a "homo." (By the way, in NO way, am I trying to offend those who are bisexual, I am just commenting on the drama).

Excellent work Ikuta, you did a wonderful job in playing the toughest character, Nakatsu.

I hope that the SM version will be just as interesting, and funny as the Japanese version. On a disappointing note, I am sad to say that Tao, Xiumin, and Chen won't be part of the drama, I have absolutely no idea why, but I'm sure that in the future, Tao, Xiumin, and Chen will be starring in their own drama's.

Since I don't know Korean, I'm just going to assume that the EXO members are probably playing extras. I'm sure that they will get lines but, but probably not alot.

I'm really excited for the kiss between Minho and Sulli because apparently someone said that SM Entertainment does not allow SM members to kiss other SM members. For example, Kyuhyun from Super Junior and Sunny from Girls Generation, faked kiss during Catch Me if You Can, the musical. I hope that they don't fake kiss because that will definitely ruin the drama. Also, I personally find that lots of Asian (Korean, Japanese, maybe Chinese and Taiwanese) dramas don't have very good kissing scenes. For me, I don't watch a lot of Asian dramas, but whenever I do, the kiss scene is always just a long peck, like there's no connection, no emotion, like ZERO! The only Korean drama that I know that has a good kiss scene is City Hunter. I think that if there is supposed to be a passionate kissing scene between Minho and Sulli, the director would probably tell the them they are going to fake kiss, and they'll probably use a camera trick to make seem like it's real, sort of like the "kiss" between Sandara Park and Minho in Kiss Note. Minho is a great actor, but I'm crossing my fingers that they won't fake kiss.

I think that the drama is going to air on August 8, 2012. I am absolutely ecstatic and I can't wait!

P.P.S There is also a Taiwan version of Hana Kimi, I haven't watched it yet, but I will as soon as I finish watching the Japanese version.

Kpop Hair Styles (Men)

Hi

So, a few months ago, I showed my parents EXO-M and EXO-K's music video for Mama and History, I even showed my parents their predebut pictures, and how they look now. Personally, I find all twelve guys in  EXO very attractive, but not my parents. They think that they look like GIRLS. WHAT? Well, after listening to my parent's thoughts of EXO, I decided to take a look myself to see if they really do look like girls. After a long evaluation, I have to say that, some of them, unfortunately do look like girls. HOWEVER, I blame it on their hairstyles.

I don't know if you know this, but I've only started listening to kpop since December, and I've realized that the men kpop hairstyles are all basically the same thing. They have their bangs infront of their face, kind of like a Bieber cut. Don't get me wrong, I am a belieber, but I just don't think Bieber cuts fits the world of Kpop. For example, Chanyeol from EXO-K.

When I saw this picture, I actually thought that it was a girl (Credit: as tagged)
You know, I'm perfectly fine with Chanyeol always smiling and being cute, but it's the hairstyle that always gets in the way. I'm a huge fan of EXO (obviously), but they (especially EXO-K) need to get better hairstylists. The first picture of Chanyeol with long hair reminded me of ancient China, when all the men had long hairstyles. The second picture of Chanyeol at the airport just reminded me of a very very tall girl. You see, I personally prefer when his hair is spiked up like when he made an appearance in TTS`s Twinkle, or his predebut days. I even like his hair better when it`s curled up! . To be completely honest, I almost feel like he looks better during his predebut days.

I really hope that the EXO hairstylists will change their hairstyles (especially Chanyeols). On a random note, I really think that the makeup artists will stop putting eyeliner on guys, for example when Kris wore eyeliner during the Smtown concert in Anaheim, California, during the press conference when he wore a white jacket, black eyeliner, seems like he was wearing nude lipstick, a lot of foundation, and I think he was even wearing some blush. If you would like to see the video click here. Just as I thought Kris was the most masculine guy in EXO.

Just look how manly all the EXO-K members look with their hair spiked up.

I find it very interesting that in American music/fashion/movie industry, the guys basically all have their hair spiked up. Compare this...

As you can see, the top picture is the 2011 Golden Globes, and these five handsome men were considered as "best-dressed." I really don't care on what they're wearing other than the fact that none of these men have "Chanyeol Hair." While on the bottom picture, all the guys (except for one) have their hair down in different variations of "Bieber Hair".

The only person that is in the American music industry (I can think of) who has "Chanyeol Hair" is Justin Bieber but, he did change hairstyle from long to short.

I guess my whole point is that, I love kpop, but the guys seriously needs to get new hairstyles. I understand that not all kpop men have the "Bieber" cut but, most of them do. If they are really happy their hair, then they should keep it, as Michelle Phan always says "Happiness is beauty." I might sound bitter (which I am), but at the end of the day, I will always love BOTH kpop and American music.
